BCU Foundation donates over $65,000 to families of the Nebesna Sotnia – Heavenly Hundred

BCU Foundation’s Nebesna Sotnia – Heavenly Hundred Fund makes two donations totalling over $65,000 to honour Ukraine’s “Heavenly Hundred” and help their families.

To mark the 5th anniversary of the deaths of the “Heavenly Hundred” – the more than 100 civilian demonstrators shot dead in Kyiv, Ukraine by Victor Yanukovych’s security forces in February 2014 – BCU Foundation, through its Nebesna Sotnia – Heavenly Hundred Fund, donated $10,000USD to the “Rodyna Heroyiv Nebesnoyi Sotni”, a Ukrainian based organization that helps the families of the fallen heroes.

“We honour the brave actions of the Heavenly Hundred who protested with quiet dignity to defend the freedom of Ukraine in the face of Russian oppression and influence”, said Roman Medyk, Chair of BCU Foundation’s Board of Directors.

BCU Foundation, through the Nebesna Sotnia Fund made an additional donation of $53,500, distributing $500 to each of the 107 families of the fallen “Heavenly Hundred” heroes.

“We would like to thank Meest Corporation President, Rostyslav Kisil, for generously donating his company’s sеrvіcеs to facilitate the delivery of these funds to each and every family in Ukraine”, said BCU CEO, Oksana Prociuk.

Thousands of Ukrainians participated in peaceful demonstrations in Kyiv’s central Maidan Nezalezhnosti to protest President Yanukovych’s decision to reverse his pledge to bring Ukraine closer to formal relations with the European Union. Yanukovich’s security forces, known as the Berkut, tried to crush the demonstrations with violence which resulted in the brutal killing of over 100 un-armed civilians.

BCU Foundation is committed to providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine and continues to support the efforts of Ukraine as it defends itself against Russian military aggression in the ongoing war in Eastern Ukraine.

BCU Foundation’s Nebesna Sotnia – Heavenly Hundred Fund was initiated by the greater Toronto Ukrainian-Canadian community and Buduchnist Credit Union in the immediate aftermath of the horrific and bloody events of February 18-20, 2014 during the Revolution of Dignity. The Fund’s objective is to provide financial support to the families of the fallen Heavenly Hundred heroes.

Фонд “Небесна Сотня” Фундації BCU Foundation робить дві пожертви на загальну суму понад $65.000 тисяч доларів, для вшанування героїв «Небесної Сотні» і допомоги їхнім родинам.

З нагоди 5-ї річниці загибелі Небесної Сотні – понад 100 цивільних демонстрантів, які були вбиті силовими спецпідрозділами Віктора Януковича у Києві, в Україні, у лютому 2014 року, – Фундація BCU Foundation, через свій фонд «Nebesna Sotnia – Heavenly Hundred», пожертвувала $ 10,000 США для громадської організації «Родина Героїв Небесної Сотні» – української організаціі, яка допомагає родинам загиблих героїв.

“Ми вшановуємо відвагу героїв Небесної Сотні, які з тихою гідністю протестували, щоби  захистити свободу України перед загрозою російського гноблення і впливу” – сказав Роман Медик, голова ради директорів Фундації BCU Foundation.

Фундація BCU Foundation через Фонд «Небесна Сотня» здійснила додаткову пожертву у розмірі $53,500, розподіливши по $500 кожній зі 107-х родин загиблих героїв «Небесної сотні».

“Ми хочемо подякувати президентові Корпорації «Міст», Ростиславу Кісілю, за те, що він великодушно та доброчинно надав послуги своєї компанії і сприяв, щоби кошти швидко дійшли до кожної родини в Україні” – заявила Президент та Головний Управитель Кредитової Спілки «Будучність», Оксана Процюк.

Тисячі українців взяли участь у мирних демонстраціях на центральному Майдані Незалежності в Києві на знак протесту проти рішення Президента Януковича скасувати свою обіцянку наблизити Україну до офіційної співпраці з Європейським Союзом. Спеціальні силові підрозділи Януковича, відомі як «Беркут», намагалися придушити ці демонстрації силою, що призвело до жорстокого вбивства понад 100 неозброєних цивільних осіб.

Фундація BCU Foundation має за обов’язок надавати гуманітарну допомогу Україні та продовжує підтримувати зусилля України в її протистоянні російській військовій агресії у триваючій війні на Сході України.

Фонд «Nebesna Sotnia – Heavenly Hundred» при Фундації BCU Foundation був ініційований та організований великою українсько-канадською громадою Торонто та Кредитовою Спілкою «Будучність» відразу після жахливих та кривавих подій 18-20 лютого 2014 року під час Революції Гідності. Метою Фонду є надання фінансової підтримки родинам загиблих героїв Небесної Сотні.
